The brake fluid reservoir is located on the left side of the engine compartment on the master brake cylinder. The change in the volume of brake fluid that occurs during the operation of the brake system (including due to temperature fluctuations), is equalized by the brake fluid reservoir. To equalize the volume, there is a small hole in the lid of the tank, which must always be open (not clogged with deposits).
If, with partially worn or new brake pads, the brake fluid level in the reservoir is below the mark «Min», therefore, there was a loss of tightness of the brake system and there is a leak of brake fluid. Topping up the liquid in this case is carried out only after the restoration of the tightness of the system. Add only fresh brake fluid.
If the brake hydraulic drive is in good condition, and the brake fluid level is below the mark «Min», then this is due to the wear of the lining of the brake pads.
Since brake fluid is hygroscopic (absorbs moisture from the air), you should systematically change the brake fluid every 2 years, even if the brake system works flawlessly.
