Pic. 383. Flywheel: 1 - gear rim; 2 - bolts for fastening the gear rim; 3 - set screw (should protrude a distance a)
The engine flywheel is equipped with a toothed rim of the engine speed sensor. This toothed rim is mounted on the reverse side of the crankshaft with three bolts tightened to 10 Nm. The flywheel has already been shown in Fig. 383. Please note that the inserted set screw should protrude 2.5-3.0 mm above the surface (dimension a). To loosen the flywheel mounting bolts, fix it properly in a stationary position (e.g. by inserting a screwdriver into the flywheel ring gear) and loosen the flywheel bolts. Flywheel bolts cannot be reused.
Attention! If the friction surface of the flywheel is scratched, such as when replacing a slipper clutch, replace the flywheel.
The flywheel ring gear must not be replaced separately from the flywheel itself. If its teeth are damaged, the flywheel assembly with the ring gear should be replaced. At the same time, the teeth of the starter gear should also be checked, as they can also be worn out.
The bolts are tightened to 60 Nm and then rotated another 90°.
