- the overhead camshaft is mounted on five bearings;
- the rear bearing serves for the axial direction of the camshaft;
- removed on older engines to lubricate the engine, the fourth camshaft bearing cap is now reinstalled and is a normal bearing cap;
- before processing valve seats, be sure to read the recommendations given in paragraph 3.3.3;
- the manufacturer in most cases does not provide accurate data for checking the clearance in the valve drive mechanism, the length of the valve springs in an unstressed state, etc. If there is any doubt about the indicated values, then you should contact a Volkswagen workshop, where you can get more accurate information;
- valve spring plates, springs and oil caps are difficult to access, as they are located in the recesses of the cylinder head;
- when removing valves, pay attention to how these parts were installed, to the location of the tappets, valve stem halves (crackers), valve discs, internal and external springs, valve stem seals.
