Pic. 147. Drive pulley torque converter automatic transmission with parts: 1 - washer; 2 - amplification washer; 3 - fastening bolt
The drive pulley of the automatic transmission torque converter is fastened with six bolts 3 (pic. 147) to the crankshaft flange. Between the mounting bolts and the drive pulley there is a reinforcement washer 2, which has a bevel on the outer edge and must be installed with this bevel towards the drive pulley.
Install the drive pulley as follows:
- attach the drive pulley together with the reinforcement washer 2 to the crankshaft flange with six fastening bolts 3, which should be screwed by hand;
- pre-tighten the drive pulley mounting bolts to 30 Nm;
Pic. 148. Measuring the interval between the drive pulley and the surface of the cylinder block
- measure the distance from the cylinder block to the drive pulley with a vernier caliper (pic. 148). The resulting value should be in the range from 19.5 to 21.1 mm. If not, install washer 1 (pic. 147);
- tighten the fastening bolts to a torque of 60 Nm, then tighten them by another 90° (a quarter turn).
