Pic. 194. Laying the drive V-ribbed belt on the pulleys of the engine units
The V-ribbed belt drives all engine units from the crankshaft pulley or from the vibration damper. It is located around the units in front of the engine (pic. 194).
The V-ribbed belt has ribs and a flat contact surface. The tensioner provides the poly V-belt with the required tension at all times.
Pic. 195. The weakening of the tension of the V-ribbed belt (screw an M8 bolt into the threaded hole A of the belt tensioner)
To remove the V-ribbed belt, loosen the tensioner by screwing in the M8 screw (pic. 195) into the hole «A». The tensioner will move away from the drive belt and the belt will loosen, after which it can be removed.
Before removing the V-ribbed belt, carry out the following preparatory work:
- remove the upper part of the air filter together with the flow meter;
- remove the solenoid valve with retaining ring from the bottom of the air filter and remove the bottom of the air filter.
Installing the belt: put it in the middle of all the drive pulleys and slowly unscrew the tensioner screw. In this case, the tensioner will begin to put pressure on the belt, which will provide the belt with the required tension.
After installing the belt, start the engine and let it run for a while. Check that the belt is installed correctly and works well.
If there is an air conditioner, two V-ribbed belts are installed, one of them is for driving the compressor.
