Checking the cooling fan

If the fan does not turn on when the engine warms up to the set temperature, then first of all check the temperature switch located on the side of the radiator as follows:

• start the engine and let it warm up to the set temperature;
• slowly unscrew the cap of the expansion tank to release steam from it;
• insert the thermometer into the expansion tank. The temperature of the coolant in the expansion tank must be between 93-98°C and the fan must turn on;
• if the fan does not turn on, then turn off the ignition, pull out both wires from the terminals of the temperature switch and connect their ends to each other;
• turn on the ignition. The fan should start working immediately;
• if the fan is running, the temperature switch is faulty and needs to be replaced.
