Repair and maintenance of the ignition system

When cranking the engine with the HV wires removed, some elements of the fuel injection and ignition system may fail. To avoid this, before carrying out work on the repair and maintenance of the ignition system, do the following:

• on a 2.0-liter engine, turn off the ignition and disconnect the three-pin connector from the high voltage transformer, as well as the connector from the engine speed sensor;

• on a VR6 engine, disconnect the five-pin connector (pic. 212) from a high voltage transformer.

When carrying out repair work, the safety precautions must be strictly observed. If the checks described below do not give any results, then you should contact the service station to check the ignition system using the computer memory device.
