On the 2.0-liter engine, the ignition distributor is installed in the cylinder block and is driven from the intermediate shaft. At the bottom of the distributor there is a Hall sensor, and at the top of the distributor, electricity is distributed to the spark plugs using a slider. However, the ignition distributor «controlled» electronically. The 2.0-liter engine has one ignition coil, which provides the ignition current to the candles in a 1-3-4-2 sequence at the right time.

On the VR6 engine, ignition distribution is provided by a high voltage transformer mounted on the cylinder head. This system also uses a Hall sensor powered by a camshaft. The ECU, constantly receiving data from the camshaft speed sensor, adjusts the ignition timing relative to the camshaft speed.
