Clutch installation

Clutch installation is carried out in the reverse order, taking into account the following:

• if you are installing an old clutch, then make sure that all previously applied marks match. The new clutch can be installed in any position, as it has not yet worn in;

• to center the driven disk relative to the flywheel, a mandrel VW 3190 is used that imitates the splined end of the gearbox input shaft (pic. 230). For centering, you can use the old input shaft of the gearbox;
• tighten the bolts securing the clutch cover to the flywheel evenly crosswise and tighten them to a torque of 25 Nm. In this case, the flywheel should be locked with a latch in a fixed position. At the service station «Volkswagen» for this, a VW 3067 lock is used (pic. 230);
• after installing the gearbox on the engine, check the quality of the clutch.
