Gear shift mechanism

The traditionally used shift rods on the Sharan have been replaced with two cable pulls. As a result of this, the vibrations transmitted to the gearshift lever and to the vehicle interior have decreased, and the vibrations of the power unit have practically no effect on the gearshift mechanism.

When the gear is engaged, the gear selection cable turns the shift shaft around its axis, and the second cable turns the gear, at the same time moves the shaft in the longitudinal direction.
