Auto-dimming interior rearview mirror
To avoid dazzling the driver from behind, the interior rearview mirror automatically dims steplessly. The mirror consists of a mirror element and an electronic control unit with two photo sensors. Using photo sensors, the control unit detects the intensity of the light emitted from the front and rear of the mirror. If the exposure to light radiation from behind is more intense than from the front, the control unit applies voltage to the electrically conductive coating. Under the influence of electrical voltage, the electrolyte changes color. The higher the electrical voltage, the darker the electrolyte becomes. This leads to a decrease in the reflectance of the incident light. When reverse gear is engaged, the auto dimming function is disabled. As a result, there is no difficulty when driving through the interior rear-view mirror, for example from a dark garage.
Removing
On vehicles with a rain sensor, switch off the ignition. Use wedge -3409- to press retainer -1- of right cover -2-. Detach right -2- and left-hand covers -3- from mirror base. Disconnect connector -4-. Remove the mirror from its mount by sliding it down parallel to the windshield.
Removal and installation of an internal rear-view mirror
Turn interior rear view mirror -1- 90°counterclockwise -arrow- and remove from bracket -2-.
