Removing
Disconnect battery. Remove air filter. Remove the battery. Remove battery bracket. Cover the engine and gearbox with a lint-free cloth. Extract the maximum amount of brake fluid from the reservoir using the tool -VAS 5234- or -VAG 1869/4-.
With manual transmission
Disconnect hose -B- from clutch master cylinder and tie it up.
All
Disconnect connector -A- from brake fluid level sender -F34-. Disconnect connector -C- from brake light switch -F-.
Remove the brake fluid reservoir. To do this, press the locks on the reservoir outward and at the same time remove the reservoir from the seals. Unscrew brake lines -1- from brake master cylinder. Close the lines immediately with plugs from the set 1H0 698 311 A. Unscrew the nuts -2- securing the brake master cylinder.
If present, remove heat shield. Carefully detach the brake master cylinder from the brake booster. Unscrew brake light switch -F- from brake master cylinder.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order. When connecting the master brake cylinder to the brake booster, make sure that the tappet is in the correct position in the master brake cylinder. Bleed the brake system.

Stoplight switch to brake master cylinder | 3 Nm |
Brake pipelines to the main brake cylinder | 14 Nm |
