Removing
Remove wheel. Remove wheel arch liner.
Only for left shock absorber
Detach rear left vehicle level sender -G76- from lower transverse link.
All
Remove coil spring. Disconnect the connector and remove the cable from the shock absorber.
Loosen shock absorber mounting bolts.
Only for left shock absorber
Remove rear body acceleration sender -G343- from shock absorber mount.
All
Remove bolt -arrow-. Remove shock absorber.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order. The tightening of the shock absorber mounting bolts to the wheel bearing housing can only be done after the suspension is installed in a position corresponding to the size "A"! Observe the correct mounting position of the shock absorber. The rear left/right wheel damping control valve -N338/N339- must point rearwards outwards towards the wheel.
Only for left shock absorber
Fit rear body acceleration sender -G343- to shock absorber mount. Place the bracket on the rear of the shock absorber support so that the protrusions of the bracket -1- fit into the recesses of the support. Rotate the bracket forward so that it rests on the shock absorber mount. Lug -arrow- serves to align bracket for rear body acceleration sender -G343-.
All
Install shock absorber and tighten bolts. Tighten bolt -arrow-. Plug in connector for rear left/right wheel damping adjustment valve -N338/N339-. Install coil spring.
Only for left shock absorber
Connect rear left vehicle level sender -G76- to lower transverse link.
All
Install the wheel arch liner. Install the wheel and tighten the wheel bolts.
Tightening torques
Shock absorber to the body. Use only new bolts | 50 Nm and tighten by 45° |
Shock absorber to wheel bearing housing. Use only new bolt | 180 Nm |
Rear left vehicle level sender -G76- to lower transverse link | 5 Nm |
