Tire pressure monitoring system

The tire pressure monitoring system provides for the installation of pressure sensors in each wheel. Wheel sensors transmit information at regular intervals, which is received by the central locking and burglar alarm antenna. From there it is transmitted to the tire pressure monitoring control unit -J502-. This control unit is integrated in the convenience systems central control unit -J393- and has its own diagnostic address. Prescribed pressure values stored in the control unit (recorded under production conditions). These pressures are for the recommended Volkswagen wheels (the dimension of which is indicated on the filler cap). For these sets of wheels, the prescribed pressure values are set for partial and full vehicle loads. They should not be changed. Using the button -1- on the center console, the driver can switch between partial and full load of the car, query the system status, and enable or disable the tire pressure monitoring system.

Caution: This key is not available on vehicles for the North American market. For this region, the function described above is not supported.

Messages and warnings are displayed using the warning lamp and display in the instrument cluster.
