For sound support of some optical indicators, the instrument cluster has a buzzer controlled from the control unit. All control lamps are equipped with LEDs. Repair of the instrument cluster is not provided. If necessary, the entire instrument cluster is replaced. Data bus diagnostic interface -J533- (Gateway) is made as a separate control unit and is not, as on various other cars, an integral part of the instrument cluster.
Fault recognition and error indication
The instrument cluster is equipped with a self-diagnostic function that makes troubleshooting easier. For troubleshooting, use the tester -VAS 5051 A- in the "Guided Fault Finding".
Replacing the instrument cluster
The Tiguan is equipped with a fourth-generation immobilizer with online connection and download. The most important part of the fourth generation immobilizer is the central database, which contains all the theft-related data of the individual control units. It is not possible to adapt the control units involved in the immobilizer without an online connection to this database. Requests for PIN codes of immobilizer components by fax or by temporary connection are not possible. All components involved in the immobilizer must be trained online. All (including those ordered later) The car keys are pre-coded at the factory and can only be learned on this car. The subsequent order of keys is made upon provision of the corresponding chassis number. It is no longer possible to adapt components from other Group brands in Volkswagen vehicles.
Removal and installation of a combination of devices
Note: If a new instrument cluster is installed in the vehicle, the control unit in the instrument cluster must be set to the different equipment and country-specific equipment variants. In order to adapt the built-in immobilizer to the engine control unit, the data from the engine control unit must be stored in the replacement instrument cluster. In addition, after installing a new instrument cluster, all vehicle keys must be adapted. Before replacing the instrument cluster, it is necessary in each case to carry out the sequence of actions "Replacing the instrument cluster" to read the data stored in the control unit.
Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers, remove the ignition key.
Instructions: It is not necessary to remove the steering wheel.
Pull the steering wheel fully forward and lock it in the lowest position. Remove the slotted adjustment of the steering column. Unscrew securing screws -arrows-of instrument cluster.
Instructions: When removing the instrument cluster, it is not necessary to disconnect the connectors. The connector is rigidly attached to the vehicle and automatically disconnects when the instrument cluster is removed.
Remove the instrument cluster from the front panel.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
Description of the rear side of the instrument cluster
Instructions: It is forbidden to disassemble the instrument cluster. If necessary, the entire instrument cluster is replaced.
