Removal and installation of the steering column stutter housing
Instruction: To remove the steering column lock housing, you must first remove the steering column switch bracket. The steering column lock may be damaged. If the steering column lock is actuated by the lock cylinders, it will lock up and will need to be replaced. It is forbidden to actuate the steering column lock without a lock cylinder.
Disconnect battery. Remove the steering column switch module bracket.
Removal and installation of a stammering larva
Disconnect battery. Remove steering wheel. Remove steering column trim.
Instruction: For clarity, the figure does not show the signal light switch, wiper switch, steering angle sensor, coil spring and steering column control unit. To remove the lock cylinder, the elements can not be removed. The immobilizer reading coil is attached to the stutter cylinder and cannot be replaced separately. For clarity, the following figures do not show the ignition key.
Insert the ignition key into the lock cylinder and turn it to the position "incl. ignition". Key positions in the ignition lock cylinder.
- 1 - Position "Halt" (Stop)
- 2 - Position "Fahrt" (Movement)
- 3 - Position "Start" (Start)
Instructions: For clarity, the following figure shows a removed lock cylinder without an ignition key.
Insert steel wire (about 1.2 mm) hole -arrow- next to the ignition key. Unlock -arrow- with steel wire -2- the safety lever -3- of the lock cylinder -1-. Remove lock cylinder -1- from steering column lock housing.
Disconnect plug -arrow- from pickup coil.
Installation
Instruction: For clarity, the ignition key is not shown in the following figure.
Insert the ignition key into the lock cylinder -1- and turn it to position "Movement". Unlock -arrow- with steel wire -2- the safety lever -3- of the lock cylinder -1-.
Instruction: The connector for the immobilizer reading coil must be inserted into the guide on the steering lock housing.
Connect the plug to the immobilizer reading coil. Insert the lock cylinder -1- into the lock body. Remove the steel wire -2- from the lock cylinder -1- and check the security of the lock cylinder in the lock body. Install all components in reverse order.
Removal and installation of the ignition switch and starter
Disconnect battery. Remove steering wheel. Remove steering column trim. Disconnect connector -2- from ignition and starter switch -1-. Unlock ignition and starter switch with a small screwdriver -arrows-. Remove ignition and starter switch -1- from steering column lock housing.
Installation
Insert the ignition and starter switch into the steering column lock housing until it clicks. Insert the ignition key into the lock cylinder and turn it to the "incl. ignition".
Instruction: The key must be in position "Movement". Key positions in the ignition lock cylinder.
- 1 - Position "Halt" (Stop)
- 2 - Position "Fahrt" (Movement)
- 3 - Position "Start" (Start)
Install all components in reverse order.
Removing and installing Bend ignition key lock -N376-
The ignition key lock magnet -N376- is mounted in close proximity to the ignition switch and starter.
Instructions: To remove the ignition key in vehicles with automatic transmission, you must always first move the selector to the position "P", and then turn off the ignition. Otherwise, the ignition key lock magnet -N376- will prevent the key from being removed from the lock!
Remove steering column electronics control unit -J527-. Release latch -2- with a suitable screwdriver. Remove magnet for ignition key lock -N376- -1- in direction of arrow from holder. This simultaneously disconnects the connector.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
Instruction: After connecting the battery to activate the ignition key lock magnet -N376-, carry out a diagnosis of the actuators of the steering column electronics control unit -J527-.
