Battery shutdown
Instructions: Disconnecting the ground wire on the battery (chain break) the possibility of safe work on electrical devices is ensured. Disconnecting the positive terminal is only necessary to remove the battery.
Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers. Open battery cover -1-,
First unscrew the earth cable terminal -1- from the negative battery terminal. Unscrew the positive terminal -2- from the positive terminal of the battery.
Connecting the terminals to the battery
Instructions: After connecting the battery and turning on the ignition, the (permanently lit) electronic stability control warning lamp (ASR/ ESP) -K/55-. The control lamp goes out automatically when reaching a speed of 15 -20 km / h and straight ahead. This reactivates the steering angle sender -G85-. The AKM central gas outlet hose must not be kinked, closed and/or damaged. The gases formed in the battery are harmful to health and explosive. Carefully lay the hose and make sure that the battery does not interfere and the gas outlet is not directed into the vehicle interior.
Push positive terminal -2- onto positive battery terminal and tighten retaining bolt to specified torque. Push earth wire -1- onto negative battery terminal and tighten retaining bolt to specified torque. Follow the steps in the sequence below.
The sequence of actions after connecting the battery
Switch the ignition on with the ignition key and switch it off again. Read fault memory: Guided fault finding with VAS 5051A. Clock: Check setting, reset if necessary. Power window: fully open all windows, then close. Function test: all electrical consumers.
