Starter (vehicles with 2.0l TDI engines and MQ500 manual gearbox)

• 1 - Connecting the B+ wire to the starter
• 2 - Nut for fastening the connection of the B + wire to the starter, M8, 15 Nm
• 3 - Starter mounting bolts, M12, 75 Nm
• 4 - Protective cap
• 5 - Nuts for fastening the wire holder, M8.15 Nm
• 6 - Wire holder
• 7 - Starter

Mounting bolt of the air filter housing to the body, 10 Nm

Removal and installation of a starter

Disconnect battery. Pull up and remove engine cover -arrows-.



Unplug electrical connector Open spring clip -2- with spring clip pliers -VAS 5024A- and remove vacuum hose -3-.



Remove securing bolt for air cleaner housing -arrow-.




Release tabs -arrows- and remove cover.



Detach hose -arrow- from air cleaner housing and remove hose. Pull the air filter housing up from the mountings and remove it.



Slide the protective cap -in the direction of the arrow- off the solenoid relay.



Unscrew positive cable -1- and unplug connector at terminal 50 -2-.




Remove nuts -2- from starter mounting bolts and remove cable holder -1-.



Unscrew top securing bolt for starter -arrow-. Remove soundproof cover.



Unscrew lower fixing bolt for starter -arrow-. Pull the starter down from the car.



Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following. Tighten screw connections to the specified tightening torques.
