Starter (vehicles with 1.4l TSI engines and MQ500 manual gearbox)

• 1 - Starter
• 2 - Connecting the B+ wire to the starter
• 3 - Nut for fastening the connection of the B + wire to the starter, M8, 15 Nm
• 4 - Starter mounting bolts, M12, 75 Nm
• 5 - Protective cap
• 6 - Nuts for fastening the wire holder, M8, 15 Nm
• 7 - Wire holder Mounting bolt of the air filter housing to the body, 10 Nm

Removal and installation of a starter

Disconnect battery. Unlock vacuum hose -arrow- and remove. Pull engine cover upwards out of rubber mounting -1- and pull forward -in direction of arrow. Remove the air filter housing.



Unlock and unplug electrical connector -1-.



Slide protective cap -1- downwards in -direction of arrow- off solenoid relay.




Unscrew the fastening nut -1- and remove the positive wire -2- from the connecting thread of the solenoid relay.



Remove nuts -2- from starter mounting bolts and remove cable holder -1-.



Unscrew top securing bolt for starter -arrow-. Remove soundproof cover.



Unscrew the lower fixing bolt of the starter -2-. Remove starter -1- from bottom of vehicle.



Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following. Tighten screw connections to the specified tightening torques.
