Instruction: After installing the elements of the exhaust system, it is necessary to check the absence of internal stresses in the system, as well as the presence of a sufficient distance between the elements of the system and the body. If necessary, loosen the double clamp and align the exhaust pipe and muffler so that there is sufficient clearance from the body and the fasteners are evenly loaded. Replace self-extinguishing nuts. When replacing the particulate filter or the exhaust gas pressure sensor 1-G450-, it is absolutely necessary to adapt the exhaust gas pressure sender 1-G450- via tester: Guided functions; adaptation of the exhaust gas pressure sensor 1-G450-.
Remove the battery and battery mounting pad. Remove the air filter housing. Disconnect connector for lambda probe -G39- -3- and connector for exhaust gas temperature sender 4 G648- -2-.
Unplug connector for exhaust gas temperature sensor 3 -G495- -1- (fixed to the holder). Disconnect connectors from holders and remove cables from holders on front wall of plenum box -2- and turbocharger.
Unplug connector, unscrew bolt -2- and remove bracket for exhaust gas pressure sender 1 -G450- including sender by moving in direction of travel. Remove exhaust pressure sender 1-G450- on particulate filter.
Unscrew securing bolt -arrow- on top bracket for particulate filter. Remove soundproofing tray. Remove subframe with steering gear.
Loosen clamp -1- connecting diesel particulate filter and turbocharger. Loosen nuts securing particulate filter to bracket using ratchet spanner -T10384-.
Loosen nuts -arrows- for particulate filter bracket -A- on cylinder block. Leave bracket on cylinder block.
Front wheel drive vehicles
Remove bolts -1- for heat shield -A- above right drive shaft and remove shield.
All wheel drive vehicles
Unscrew the bolts -1 - of the heat shield -A- of the right drive shaft using the 8 mm socket -3247-. If necessary, press the diesel particulate filter slightly up to gain access to the rear bolt.
All
Secure detachable element at front section of exhaust system with transport protection -T10404-. Loosen the clamp on the exhaust pipe. Do not remove clamp. Remove particulate filter bracket -A-. Slide retaining clip towards exhaust pipe. Remove particulate filter with exhaust pipe downwards. Do not damage the wires and other components.
Installation
Secure detachable element at front section of exhaust system with transport protection -T10404-. Install the diesel particulate filter bracket in place at the bottom of the cylinder block and tighten the bracket nuts by hand. Install the particulate filter on the bracket. Fasten exhaust pipe to propshaft or body using suitable means. Screw in the fixing bolt on the upper bracket for the diesel particulate filter by hand. Move the double clamp to the correct position on the downpipe. Pull up the electrical cables of the temperature sensors. Position the clamp on the turbocharger and tighten it. Tighten the mounting bolts in the following sequence.
1. DPF lower bracket to engine block.
2. Particulate filter to bottom bracket, use ratchet spanner -T10384-.
3. Diesel particulate filter to upper bracket.
Install the heat shield for the drive shaft using the socket on 8 -3247-. Connect the right drive shaft joint to the transfer case. Install subframe with steering gear. Install the downpipe hanger on the subframe. Tighten the double clamp of the exhaust system.
