Caution: The injection pump must not be operated in dry friction mode. Before starting the engine for the first time, the injection pump must be filled with fuel (operation in dry friction mode is unacceptable).
Remove the toothed belt from the camshaft pulleys and injection pump. Unplug electrical connector -1- and unscrew bolts -arrows-.
Caution: Take care not to damage the wire connections when removing the plug connectors, otherwise the entire wiring harness will have to be replaced. To remove the connectors, do not squeeze the pliers -3314- so hard that the mandrel is not damaged.
Fit the pliers -3314- with the groove -arrow A- on the collar of the mandrel -arrow B- and remove the connectors from the glow plugs.
Remove connector carefully in -direction of arrow- from glow plug. Remove the screws securing the coolant line to the intake manifold and lay the line aside. Disconnect the fuel return line from the injection pump. Disconnect the fuel return line from the high pressure accumulator (ramps) and put it aside. Remove high pressure pipe between injection pump and pressure accumulator (fuel rail). Remove the toothed pulley from the injection pump.
Hold the injection pump hub with stopper -T10051- and loosen hub nut -1-.
Position puller -T40064- with stop -T40064/1- as shown in illustration and remove hub from shaft stub. If necessary, hold with a wrench 24.
Unscrew securing bolts -arrows- for injection pump. Remove HPV.
Installation in reverse order.
