Specification for wheel and tire conversions

The rim/tire combinations and conversions listed in the individual vehicle tables apply exclusively to original Volkswagen rims.

The approval of wheels or their conversion to non-original wheels is not possible with the aid of the accompanying OE permit.

Tubeless radial tires may only be used on tapered rims with a safety shoulder, such as a round hump.

When using these combinations of wheels and tires, the correct tire pressure must be maintained. The air pressure for summer tires is indicated on the sticker on the inside of the fuel filler flap or in the table for a particular car.

Sufficient clearance of the wheels and tires to the wheel arches, suspension and brakes is guaranteed if the instructions specified in the Component Authorization are observed under all operating conditions.

In the absence of any additional information, snow chains may only be fitted to the drive wheels. However, on vehicles with all-wheel drive, snow chains may only be fitted to the front wheels, and on the Touareg also to the rear.

Tires and wheels of the same size should be installed on the front and rear axles. Vehicles with all-wheel drive should be fitted with tires of the same manufacturer and tread profile.
