Along with the function of supplying current to the starter when starting the engine, the battery acts as a smoothing filter and a source of electricity for the entire vehicle on-board network.

Touareg vehicles use two different battery options.

Single battery option

A battery with an indicator is installed, with cans without plugs, under the left front seat.

Dual battery option

Battery with indicator, with cans without plugs, under the left front seat and additionally a second battery (without liquid electrolyte) in the trunk in the spare wheel compartment.
