Removal and installation of a starter (8-cyl. injection engine 4.2 l)

Removing

Remove the engine.

Remove the exhaust manifold.

Loosen fixing screw 1.

Unlock cable 2 and remove cable holder 3 from motor bracket (pic. 7.32).



Unscrew the mounting nut from the engine mount (pic. 7.33).



Unscrew the fixing bolts (pic. 7.34).



Hang the engine from the 3033 hanger on the right side of the main head (timing belt side) and left MCC (flywheel side).

Suspend hanger 3033 from the VAS 6100 crane.

Raise the engine with the VAS 6100 crane (pic. 7.35).



Remove the engine mount.

Remove all three engine bracket mounting bolts from the cylinder block.

Remove the engine bracket.

Remove protective caps (pic. 7.36).



Unscrew the fastening nuts of cable terminal 50 1 and positive cable 2 from the starter magnetic switch (pic. 7.37).



Set the wires aside.

Remove the lower starter mounting bolt on the engine side (pic. 7.38).



Remove the upper starter mounting bolt on the gearbox side (pic. 7.39).



Remove the starter.

Installation

Installation is carried out in the reverse order, paying attention to the following.

Tighten the connections to the prescribed torque.
