Signal and control lamps indicate the operation of certain components and systems or warn of violations in the operation of components and systems.
Some of the signal and indicator lamps shown here are only available on certain vehicle versions or are installed as custom equipment.
NOTE: Some signal and control lamps are additionally duplicated on the display. Failures in the operation of units and systems are divided according to the degree of importance and are shown on the display with red or yellow icons and are additionally accompanied by text messages.
Anti-skid system (ESP)
The control lamp shows the operation of the anti-skid system and the occurrence of a malfunction in it.
Pilot lamp functions:
- lights up when the ignition is turned on for about two seconds during a performance check;
- flashes while driving when the anti-skid system is in operation;
- lights up when there is a malfunction of the anti-skid system;
- lights up when the anti-skid system is disabled;
- It also lights up when there is a malfunction of the ABS, since the anti-skid system works together with the ABS.
If the control lamp lights up immediately after starting the engine, a service shutdown of the system can be assumed. The system can then be reactivated by switching the ignition off and on again. If the control lamp goes out, the system is fully operational again.
Anti-lock braking system (ABS)
Warning light indicates a malfunction in the ABS and in the associated traction control system (EDS).
The signal lamp lights up when the ignition is switched on for a few seconds. The lamp goes out when the automatic health check process is completed.
If there is a malfunction in the ABS:
- the signal lamp does not light up when the ignition is turned on;
- the signal lamp does not go out a few seconds after the ignition is turned on;
- warning light comes on while driving.
The vehicle can be braked by the service brake system - but the ABS is inactive. It is necessary to visit a car service as soon as possible.
In the event of a malfunction of the ABS, the warning lamp for the anti-skid system also lights up.
Malfunction in the entire brake system
If the ABS warning light comes on together with the brake system warning light, it means that there is a problem not only in the ABS, but also in the brake system.
Traction control malfunction (EDS)
The traction control system works in conjunction with the ABS. A failure of this system is indicated by the ABS warning light coming on. You should visit the workshop as soon as possible.
WARNING: If the brake fluid level is normal, it is possible that the problem in the brake system was caused by the failure of the ABS while performing the brake control. In this case, the rear wheels during braking can be blocked relatively early. Under certain circumstances, this can cause the vehicle to skid! Proceed carefully to the nearest repair shop to have the problem rectified.
Battery discharge
The warning light indicates a low battery, which may be caused by a malfunction of the generator.
The signal lamp lights up when the ignition is switched on. It goes out after starting the engine.
If the warning light comes on while driving, this means that the battery is no longer being charged by the alternator. You must immediately go to the nearest workshop.
Since the battery is discharged, all unnecessary current consumers must be turned off. The voltage in the on-board network shows a voltmeter.
Exhaust system
A signal lamp is provided for the exhaust system.
Warning light flashing: In the event of a misfire; converter may be damaged. Do not press hard on the gas pedal and carefully proceed to the nearest workshop to check the engine.
Warning light on: If the warning light comes on while driving, this means that the toxicity of the exhaust gases has increased (e.g. if the oxygen sensor is faulty). Do not press hard on the gas pedal and carefully proceed to the nearest workshop to check the engine.
EPC engine management
NOTE: Valid for petrol vehicles.
The signal lamp lights up when there is a malfunction in the control of the gasoline engine.
The signal lamp lights up after switching on the ignition during a function test. After starting the engine, it should go out.
If there is a malfunction in the engine control while driving, the warning light comes on. The engine should be checked out by a workshop immediately.
Preheating / engine management
NOTE: Valid for diesel vehicles.
The control lamp lights up when the preheating is on. It flashes when there is a malfunction in the engine control.
The control lamp is on: If the control lamp lights up when the ignition is switched on, this means that the preheating is on. After turning off the warning lamp, the engine can be started immediately. When the engine is warm, the control lamp does not light up. The engine can be started immediately.
If the control lamp does not light up when the engine is cold after switching on the ignition, this means that there is a malfunction in the preheating. Qualified help is needed.
Warning lamp flashing: The warning lamp flashes when there is a problem with the diesel engine control. The engine should be checked out by a workshop immediately.
