Switching on daylight

The headlight is only active when the ignition is on. When the engine is started and after the ignition is turned off, the head light automatically switches to the parking light.
When the automatic headlight control is activated, the headlight is automatically switched on by means of a special photo sensor when the ambient light decreases, for example when entering a tunnel during the daytime.
When driving on motorways, when the car is moving at a speed of more than 140 km / h for more than ten seconds, the head light turns on. The head light turns off when the vehicle is moving at a speed of less than 65 km/h for more than two and a half minutes.
The head light comes on when it rains when the wipers are on continuous for more than five seconds. The head light turns off when the windshield wipers have not been operated in either continuous or intermittent mode for four minutes.
Daylight
If daylight cannot be switched on using the switch, it can be switched on in the Licht menu of the main menu «Komfort-Setup».
Fog lights
When the fog lights are on, the control lamp lights up in the speedometer.
Rear fog lamp
The light from the rear fog lamp may dazzle other drivers. Switch on the rear fog lamp only when visibility is very poor.
When the rear fog lamp is on, the indicator lamp is lit in the speedometer.
If, in the presence of a regular towing device, the car is towing a trailer with a rear fog lamp, such a lamp on the car automatically turns off.
WARNING: When activated «automatic headlight control» the head light may not turn on, for example, in fog or heavy rain. You should turn on the head light with the outdoor light switch. Ultimately, headlight control is the responsibility of the driver. «Automatic head light control» is only an aid to driving. If necessary, the driver should control the head lighting himself.
WARNING: When driving with high ground clearance off-road, do not turn on the rear fog light. You will dazzle other drivers, which could lead to an accident.
NOTE: If the ignition key is removed while the exterior lights are on, a warning chime will sound until the driver's door is opened. When using outdoor lighting, follow the rules of the road. When enabled «automatic headlight control» you can not turn on the fog lights or the rear fog light.
Lighting «arrival home»
NOTE: This light is controlled by a photocell.
If the car's headlights were on for at least three seconds and then the ignition was turned off, then the headlights come on «arrival home» (night lighting) as a kind of auxiliary lighting. The duration of the night light can be set in the main menu «Komfort-Setup», there you can completely turn off this lighting.
Lighting «Departure from home»
When the car is unlocked, the lights come on «Departure from home» as auxiliary lighting. This lighting turns off when the ignition is switched on.
Plafonds and reading lights
The ceiling lamps are controlled by a toggle switch with three positions: long-term activation , control from door switches and «Turned off» (AUS).
Door switches
The lights turn on automatically when the car is unlocked and when the key is removed from the ignition. The lights go out 30 seconds after the doors are closed. When the vehicle is locked or the ignition is switched on, the lamps go out.
Reading lights
Reading light switches in the ceiling are marked with the #img13# pictogram.
NOTE: When not all vehicle doors are closed, the lights will turn off after approximately ten minutes if the key is removed from the ignition and the lights are controlled by the door switches. This prevents battery drain.
