3.6L engine number
Engine number ("engine code" And "serial number") located next to the vibration damper on the cylinder block (pic. 1.5).
The engine number consists of a maximum of nine characters (alphanumeric). First part (maximum 3 letters) represents «engine code», and the second part (six-digit) - «serial number». After the production of more than 999,999 engines with the same letter designation, the first of the six positions of the numbers is replaced by a letter.
Additionally, a sticker is applied to the intake manifold with «engine code» and «engine serial number».
The engine code is also additionally indicated on the vehicle identification plate.
5.0L engine number
Engine number («engine code» and «serial number «) located on the cylinder block, under the head of the block of the second row of cylinders (pic. 1.6).
The engine number consists of a maximum of nine characters (alphanumeric). First part (maximum 3 letters) represents «engine code», and the second part (six-digit) «serial number». After the production of over 999,999 engines with the same letter designation, the first of the six positions for numbers will be replaced by a letter.
Additionally on the soundproof cover the block heads of the first row of cylinders, a sticker is applied with «engine code» and «engine serial number».
The engine code is also additionally indicated on the vehicle identification plate.
The cylinders are counted from the right side in the direction of movement A (first row of cylinders) in relation to the side where the engine is connected to gearbox C. On each side of the engine, the counting is carried out in order (pic. 1.7).
Nameplate with model designation
The rating plate is attached to the right in the direction of travel on the transverse wall of the plenum box (pic. 1.8).
NOTE: Vehicles exported to some countries do not have a nameplate.
