Put the manual transmission lever in neutral position. Depress the clutch pedal to the stop and hold it in this position.
Hold the vehicle in place with the brake pedal.
Turn the ignition key to position 1 (pic. 1.109) when the starting heating is switched on, the control lamp lights up.
When the indicator lamp is off (or no longer lit), turn the ignition key to position 2 (pic. 1.109) to start the engine - do not press the fuel supply pedal.
Release the ignition key when the engine has started - the starter should not rotate while the engine is running.
After starting a cold engine, it will work with increased noise for some time, since the oil pressure in the valve clearance hydraulic compensators is still not high enough. This is normal.
Diesel engine preheating
During the heating operation, do not turn on powerful current consumers - there will be too much load on the battery.
As soon as the starting preheating control lamp goes out, the engine should be started.
Starting a diesel engine after running out of fuel from the tank
If the fuel tank was completely empty, the first time the engine is started after refueling, the starting process will take longer than usual - up to half a minute. The reason for this is that the fuel system must be emptied of air during engine start.
