Removing
Disconnect the wires from the battery.
NOTE: Be sure to follow the work order.
Disconnect the vacuum hoses 1-3 from the intake manifold (see fig. 2.300).
Vehicles with engine code BAA and BMX
Additionally, remove the vacuum hose 4 from the intake manifold.
Continuation for all cars
Disconnect the hose from the secondary air pump (pic. 2.301).
Completely remove the air filter housing.
Remove the intake manifold.
Then unscrew the protective screen together with the intake manifold support from the cylinder head.
Disconnect the plugs 1.4 of the lambda probes and unclip the wires from the holders (pic. 2.302).
Unscrew the lambda probes on the catalytic converters using the 3337 lambda probe wrench set.
Raise the car on a lift.
Loosen the fixing nuts of the main catalytic converter flange.
Then unscrew the bracket on the gearbox.
Next, unscrew the flange to the exhaust manifold.
Remove the exhaust manifold.
Carefully remove the downpipe with catalysts.
Installation
NOTE: When installing downpipes, check the tightness of the flange connection downstream of the catalytic converter. The looseness of the connection in this place is the cause of the cross-section of the exhaust gases. Because of this, outside air enters the lambda probe after the catalyst, and the lambda regulation is disturbed.
Align the exhaust system so that there is sufficient clearance between the gearbox and the subframe.
Further installation and assembly is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
