Oil pressure check (petrol engine.)

Verification conditions

Engine oil temperature must be at least 80°C (The cooling fan must run at least once)

On vehicles with automatic transmission, move the selector to «R» or «N».

Work order

Check the oil pressure at various speeds:

• 1500 min^-1 - minimum 1.7 bar;
• 2000 min^-1 - 3.0-5.5 bar;
• over 2000 min^-1 - max. 7.0 bar.

If actual values are lower than specified, check the strainer in the oil pickup tube for dirt.

Check pressure pipe between oil pump and cylinder block for leaks.

NOTE: Mechanical damage such as bearing failure can also cause low oil pressure.

If the problem cannot be found, replace the oil pump.

The oil pressure must not exceed 7.0 bar.

If the oil pressure exceeds 7.0 bar, check the oil passages.

It could be that the oil pump has a stuck relief valve. Replace oil pump.
