Remove any remaining sealant on the oil pan using a rotating brush attachment, such as a hand drill with a set of plastic bristle brush attachments (wear safety goggles) (pic. 2.256).
Clean the sealing surfaces - they must be free of oil and grease.
Installation
NOTE: Check the expiration date of the sealant. The oil pan must be installed within 5 minutes of applying the silicone sealant.
Cut off the tip of the tube at the front mark (holes about 3mm).
Apply silicone sealant D 176 404 A2, as shown in Figure 2.257, on a clean seating surface of the oil pan.
The sealant bead should be: 2-3 mm thick.
In places of holes for mounting bolts, apply sealant from the inside - arrows.
NOTE: The thickness of the sealant bead must not exceed the specified value, as excess sealant may enter the oil pan and clog the oil pump oil pickup strainer.
Apply silicone sealant D 176 404 A2 to the clean seating surface of the oil pan as shown (pic. 2.258).
Install the oil pan immediately and lightly tighten all mounting bolts.
Tighten the oil pan bolts to 12 Nm.
NOTE: After installing the oil pan, the sealant should dry in approximately 30 minutes. Only then can you fill in engine oil. Further installation and assembly is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
