NOTE: If the ATF circuit has been opened, the ATF circuit must be bled first. Only then check the ATF oil level and top up if necessary.
NOTE: If using the old VAG 1924 ATF filling system, reduce the width of the hook by 20mm. Only then is it possible to insert the hook into the hole to check the ATF level. Remove burrs and clean hook after cutting.
Short description
The ATF level is checked with the engine running and at a certain ATF oil temperature. The ATF temperature is requested by the tester - VAS 5051B. When the desired temperature is reached, the plug is unscrewed to control the ATF level in the oil pan.
If there is a lack of ATF in the gearbox, it does not flow out of the control hole - it is necessary to add ATF.
If there is too much ATF in the gearbox, drain the excess ATF.
If the ATF level is correct, some ATF oil will drain from the inspection hole.
After checking, screw on the ATF plug with a new oil seal and tighten.
CAUTION: Incorrect ATF level adversely affects the operation of the gearbox.
The temperature at which the ATF level is checked is listed below.
