Replacing the anther of the shaft with a flange

Press boot B off the flanged shaft (pic. 3.162).



A - Puller 22-115 mm, e.g. Kukko 17/2.

Press in the boot A of the flanged shaft (pic. 3.163).



Install bushing 3301/3 with the notch towards boot A.

Removing

Remove the front main gear.

Mount the VW 771 universal tool on the right flange shaft.

Remove right flange shaft (pic. 3.164).



Remove the flange shaft seal using the VW 771 universal tool and 771/37 puller (pic. 3.165).

Installation

Press in the new O-ring until it stops (pic. 3.166).



Fill the space between the sealing lips and dust seal halfway with grease G 052 128 A1.

Check the flange shaft boot for damage before installation. If necessary, replace the boot.

Using pliers, remove the old thrust ring A from the groove of the flanged shaft (rice. 3.161).

Do not stretch the new thrust ring, install it in the groove of the flanged shaft.

Press in the flanged shaft with a plastic mallet.

Install the front final drive.

Check the transmission oil level in the front final drive.
