Where such measurement is not possible, only the camber and toe of the front wheels are checked.
Outside the workshop, it is hardly possible to do more than check the camber and toe of the front wheels. Therefore, I confine myself to describing only these dimensions.
Adjustment
It is advisable to measure the car with an optical device to determine the position of the wheels of the car. If there is no such device, then the camber can be checked using a protractor VW 3021, and the toe-in can be checked using a mechanical template. For any measurement, the following conditions must be met:
- prescribed tire pressure.
- absolutely flat horizontal surface.
- the vehicle must be unladen (with spare wheel and, if possible, with a full fuel tank).
- properly adjusted steering.
- lack of unacceptable play in the steering rods and wheel suspension.
- correctly installed springs.
