Hit the toothed belt between the camshaft gear and the fuel pump gear with a rubber mallet.
By turning the handle of the VW 210 control device, loosen its spring.
Install the control device between the camshaft wheel and the fuel pump gear so that the belt runs between the racks and the sensitive element of the control device.
Using the handle of the device, set the scale value to 1213. On the side of the sensitive element, a steel tongue protrudes from the device, on which a white horizontal line is applied. This horizontal line must coincide with the edge of the control device. If not, then adjust the belt tension.
Adjustment
- install a control device.
- turning the handle of the device to the right, set the scale to 12-13.
- twist the tension roller until the white horizontal stroke on the steel tongue coincides with the edge of the device housing.
- tighten the tension roller nut with a torque of 45 Nm.
- Turn the crankshaft one turn and repeat the measurement, repeat the adjustment if necessary.
- install the upper part of the toothed belt cover
- check the start of delivery of the fuel pump, see section "Checking and adjusting the start of delivery of the fuel pump".
Attention! If the appropriate adjusting and monitoring devices are not available, the toothed belt tension can be adjusted in a simplified way. The toothed belt must be tensioned so that it can hardly be turned 90 degrees with the thumb and forefinger of the hand. However, the tension must subsequently be checked using a control device, avoiding previously high engine speeds.
