Carburetors 2E3 and 2E4
Attention: On the 2E4 carburetor, only the CO content is regulated. See end of section for idle speed check.
Warm up the engine, the oil temperature should be at least 60°C.
The air damper must be fully open.
Disconnect the crankcase ventilation hose from the intake pipe and close the connection with a plug.
Disconnect the electrical wire from the temperature sensor (at the bottom of the thermostat housing) ignition systems.
Connect electricity consumers (radio, headlights, etc.).
Connect a speed meter according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Connect the device for measuring CO.
Check idle speed and CO content. Values shown see table "Carburetor basic data".
Adjustment
Remove the sealing caps from the adjusting screws.
Variable rotation of the idle speed adjusting screw -A- (only on carburetor 2 E 3) and the CO content adjusting screw -B- adjust the setpoints, see Table "Carburetor basic data".
Attention: the bolt -C- must not rest against the stepped washer, otherwise turn the stepped washer. On the 2E4 carburetor, only turn the adjusting screw -B- for the CO content.
Attention: during the adjustment work, the radiator fan must not turn on.
Put new seals-caps on the adjusting screws. Attention: After adjusting the CO content, reconnect the crankcase breather hose. If at the same time the CO content increases, the cause is not an incorrect adjustment, but the ejection of waste from the engine crankcase due to oil dilution during operation, mainly in short sections. After repeated trips over long distances, the proportion of fuel in oil and the CO content in the exhaust are normalized. You can also achieve this faster with about 30 minutes of high speed driving or by changing the oil.
Carburetor 2E4
Attention: on the 2E4 carburetor, the idle speed is adjusted automatically immediately after starting the engine, depending on the temperature of the temperature switch in the carburetor. Set value:
- below +17°C: approx. 1100 rpm
- over +25°С: 900±50 rpm
Note: If the idle speed is out of tolerance, the following disturbances may occur:
- RPM less than 800 rpm: Air valve filter on throttle control clogged.
- RPM above 2000 rpm: open circuit to idle speed stabilization unit or insufficient vacuum at the throttle valve bleed valve.
