Replacing the air filter insert

The air filter insert is replaced every 30,000 km. When operating in dusty conditions, replacement should be made more frequently.

Removing

Open the spring locks of the filter housing. Attention: The illustration shows the engine air filter housing with a displacement of 1.9 liters. The 2.1L engine air filter housing is shown in Figure 24-183.

Tilt the air filter cover down and pull it out together with the air filter insert.

Wipe the filter housing with a cloth.

If it is slightly dirty, carefully knock out the filter insert with the dirty side down. A clogged filter must be replaced.

Attention: Do not wash the filter insert with gasoline or lubricate with engine oil. Do not blow out the filter with compressed air.

Installation

Insert a new filter insert into the cap.

Put on the cover and close the quick-release locks.
