1. Remove switch.
2. A simple switch has two cable connections. In this case, a positive voltage is always applied to one connection (+) and after switching on on the other terminal too. Switches with multiple terminals are available. In this case, use the wiring diagrams to find out which terminal should be supplied with voltage.
3. Check with a test lamp if there is voltage at the switch. If the lamp is on, turn on the switch and check the output terminal for voltage. If so, the switch is OK.
4. If there is no voltage at the output terminal, there is an open in the supply circuit. Check the direction of current flow according to the wiring diagram, lay a new wire if necessary.
