Removing
1. Switch off the ignition.
2. Battery in the engine compartment: open the bonnet and unscrew the battery cover (fastening is indicated by arrows).
3. Removing the second battery under the driver's seat: move the seat all the way forward, to do this, pull the stop (1) out. In this case, the seat slides forward over the stop and access to the battery from above is opened.
4. Disconnect ground wire first (-) from the battery, then the positive wire ().
5. If equipped, remove air outlet hose (3).
6. Unscrew the lock plate, remove the battery.
Warning! Batteries contain toxic substances which must not be disposed of with household waste. Take used batteries to a special waste warehouse. Local and city governments are informed about the nearest location of the collection point.
Installation
Attention! The second battery under the driver's seat is 175 mm high. It cannot be replaced by a 190 mm high battery.
1. Before installation, carefully clean the poles of the battery to a shine. A bronze, metal brush is suitable for this. To protect against corrosion, coat both poles with a special anti-oxidation grease, eg BOSCH-Polfett.
2. Install the battery, secure the lock plate with a torque of 25 Nm.
3. Connect the positive wire to the positive pole (), then the negative wire to the negative pole (-).
Attention! If the battery is connected incorrectly, serious damage to the generator and electrical equipment is possible. When connecting the battery, the ignition must be switched off, otherwise the electronic control units may be damaged.
4. Attach the air outlet hose.
5. Install cover and driver's seat.
6. If necessary, reprogram the radio.
7. Set time.
