All year round, a mixture of water, low-freezing and anti-corrosion additives G11 VW is poured into the cooling system. G11 prevents freezing of the coolant, corrosion of the cooling system and scale. It also raises the boiling point of the liquid. In the coolant circulation system, due to its expansion when heated, excess pressure is formed, which contributes to an increase in the boiling point of the coolant.
The pressure is limited by a valve in the expansion tank's screw cap, which opens at 1.2–1.5 bar. An increase in the boiling point of the coolant is required for the perfect operation of the engine cooling system. Too low a boiling point can lead to heat stagnation, in which the circulation of the coolant is disturbed and the engine is not cooled. Therefore, the mixture must be poured into the cooling system all year round.
Only G11 or a concentrate marked "approved by TL VW774A" or "IN".
