Coolant replacement is not included as part of the annual service.
If the cylinder head, cylinder head gasket, radiator, heat exchanger or engine were replaced during the repair, the coolant must be replaced in any case. This is required because corrosion additives settle on new light alloy parts during break-in and thus provide a strong anti-corrosion layer.
In the old coolant, the content of anti-corrosion additives is low to form a sufficient protective layer on new parts.
Warning! Drained coolant is not suitable for reuse. The coolant is poisonous.
Drain
1. Set heating to "warm" - heat, to do this, move the regulator in the cabin to the end to the right.
2. Place the machine on stands.
3. Remove the lower engine compartment mudguard.
4. Open the cover of the expansion tank.
Attention! When the engine is hot, cover it with a thick layer of rags before opening the cover to avoid burns from hot coolant or steam. Open the cap only when the coolant temperature is below 90°C.
5. Place a clean container under the engine or radiator.
4 cylinder engine
6. Unscrew the screw plug (1) and remove the coolant hoses (2).
7. unscrew the flange (3) coolant thermostat.
5 cylinder diesel engine
8. Drain the coolant through the screw plug (1) on the connecting pipe between the expansion tank and the coolant thermostat housing. Then remove the thermostat (2 - coolant hose, 3 - coolant thermostat flange).
9. Drain the coolant completely.
Fill
1. Tighten the drain plug. Fit coolant hoses and secure with clamps. Install thermostat. Screw on the thermostat flange.
2. Install the lower engine compartment mudguard.
3. Take the car off the stands.
4. Gradually add coolant to the mark "MAX" on the expansion tank.
Attention! If there is an air bleed screw on the upper heating hose, unscrew it. Top up the coolant until it comes out of the air outlet. Screw in the screw. Top up coolant again if necessary (up to the mark "MAX").
5. Close expansion tank.
6. Let the engine run until the fan turns on.
7. Stop the engine.
8. Check coolant level, top up if necessary "MAX". At engine operating temperature, the coolant level should be slightly above the mark "MAX", on a cold engine, between marks "MAX" And "MIN".
